How to use the studio
A walk through the studio: choosing a study, reading the phases and faults, building a session, running the timer and keeping the journal.
Start with a study you already know
The home page opens the guard and step study in the viewer. Drag the model to turn it, or open the study for the full player. The studies page lists all thirty-six in six stages; the stage chips and the category chips narrow it, and the search box matches names, summaries and stages. Pick something you have been taught in class. The studies are rehearsal aids, not lessons.
Read a study
Every study has the same parts. The viewer plays a four-second loop of one action at a time; the drill sequence under it steps through the actions the study is made of. Four phase buttons jump to the start, the prepare, the contact and the recovery, and the cue for the current phase sits under the model. The notes beside it carry the action breakdown, a Watch for line that says what the loop cannot show, and the study's depth: why it matters, three faults to look for, a starting prescription and the scope note.
Camera buttons switch between three-quarter, front, side and above; the arrow keys rotate the model when it has focus, plus and minus zoom and R resets. Mirror orientation flips the scene for a southpaw stance. The previous-phase overlay draws a wireframe of the phase just left. The trail draws the path of the working limb. The pad, where a study has one, turns to glass when it stands between you and the strike.
Use the prescription
Each study's prescription is a starting point for a timed block: rounds, seconds of work, seconds of rest and what to count. The Add button puts the study into the session builder with those numbers. Change them there. The numbers are a place to start, not a target.
Build a session
The session builder is a list of blocks, each one a study with its work, rest and repeat count. Reorder, duplicate and remove blocks; the summary shows the total time. Save the plan to keep it. The twelve starting plans on the sessions page load into the builder the same way, and the three four-week progressions name three plans per week and print as a sheet.
Run the timer
Start this session opens the player. Start round begins; Space pauses and resumes; the bell marks every change and optional spoken cues name the next block. Switching apps pauses the session and reopening the page restores it. When the last round ends, a summary shows minutes, rounds and studies covered, and hands off to the journal with the entry written.
The round timer on the home page is separate: a bell and a clock for a three, two or one minute round with no plan attached. It is there for skipping, bag rounds and anything else that only needs a bell.
Keep the journal
Every finished session writes an entry. Add a sentence about what held together. Quick add from a study or from the timer starts an entry with the name filled in. The journal exports as CSV and the whole app state, plans and settings included, exports as a checksummed JSON backup from Settings. Restore it on another device to move your practice there.
Settings that change how it reads
Reduced motion keeps the phase controls and turns the animation, the cue overlay and the trail off. Large controls widens every button. Sound and speech are separate switches. Offline installation happens on its own after the first complete load; Settings reports its state. For what the app does not do, read what this app is not.
